This is the kitchen as it appeared before the 2026 renovation began. We purchased the house in 2015. We did a “light” remodel in 2016, upgraded the appliances, added dishwasher, pantry, opened the wall where the vent hood is located.

Hello.
Cure for Pancakes is where I write about home renovation, gardening, music, queer life, unapologetically liberal politics, women’s basketball, animals, terrible ’70s and ’80s schlock horror films, and whatever else has lodged itself in my brain that week.
The name comes from an old Onion article and has nothing to do with pancakes, cures or any coordinated campaign against breakfast. It has amused me for years. I see no reason to stop now.
I plan to blog about things I care about, things I’m trying to improve and things I have opinions about whether anyone requested them or not. My spouse, CJ, may occasionally appear as a guest columnist, presumably when she has findings the public can no longer be protected from.
